Bike to Happy Hour (B2HH) – White Crow Cidery

Below we’ve put together some routes from randomly chosen locations from different parts of Wichita.  We used Garmin Connect’s Course Planning function to lay out some general routes.  Then modified those routes to prioritize low stress, low risk routes.  Our aim was to give some general directional routes that could be tapped and personalized for your particular location.  We recommend using tips on the Route Planning page to help identify a route that works best for you and your own skill and comfort level.

Additionally, White Crow Cider Company will be offering discounted drinks to B2HH participants as well as First Responders.  In the spirit of the additional discounts, we’ve provided some partial routes to help guide first responders from some of Wichita’s biggest hospitals over to the quadrant maps provided for all cyclists.  From there, first responders can use the appropriate quadrant map to navigate to White Crow.  Again, these are just suggestions and if there are any routes that you found to be better or safer, send us an email or send us a Facebook message.

Wesley Woodlawn

Though we generally would not recommend sidewalks for cyclists, I believe heading south on Woodlawn down the sidewalk would be the quickest and safest route.  There are a few stretches of sidewalk with minimal commercial driveways to worry about.  If you stay on the East side of Woodlawn, there is a dedicated signal for pedestrians at the Red Bud Trail access.  From here, first responders can use the “NW to White Crow” route to find the rest of the directions.

Wesley Medical Center (Hillside)

We recommend using the light at Hillside and Murdock to cross Hillside and continue West along Murdock.  Murdock will T with N Green Street.  Take a right and briefly head North on N Green Street to the Red Bud Trail.  Take a left on the Red Bud Trail to continue heading West.  Refer to the “NW to White Crow” route to find the rest of the directions.

Via Christi St. Joseph (Harry St)

We recommend using the hospital parking lots to head East towards S Bluffview Drive.  From there you can follow the “SE to White Crow” route to find the rest of the directions.

Via Christi St. Francis (Murdock Ave)

There are a couple of ways to go North and South from St. Francis.  However, S. Topeka St has a designated bike lane all the way down E 1st St N.  From there first responders can use either “W to White Crow” or “SW to White Crow” routes to find the remainder of the recommended route.  Alternatively, the N Santa Fe Ave route may provide less traffic, but will not have the protection of street signals.  Additionally, the Santa Fe route might require navigation around the Wave facility to access E 1st St N and the condition of the road may be poorer than that of Topeka.  Choose the route that best suits your needs and abilities.

Southwest Wichita to White Crow

Starting at Glenn Park Christian Church

  • Head East on W 27th St S toward S Osage Ave.
  • Turn left and head North on S Osage Ave toward W Pawnee St.
  • Turn right and head East on W Pawnee St to the intersection with McLean Blvd.
  • At the intersection, turn left, enter the Riverside Trail and head North towards W 1st St N.
  • Head East on W 1st St N towards N Cleveland.
  • Turn right and head South on N Cleveland toward E Douglas Ave.  (Note: when coming from the West, there are other streets to turn South on prior to N Cleveland.  Cleveland was chosen because it passes by both The Workroom & The Spice Merchant, a couple of Wichita staples.  Alter the route to your liking.)
  • This is a tricky area due to streets not lining up and having to cross 5 lanes of traffic.  We recommend shooting straight across to the commercial driveway on the opposite side of the road and using the sidewalk to move along Douglas.  But if timing traffic is proving difficult, you may want to ride across West bound lanes to the middle turning lane before crossing the East bound lanes.
  • After you have crossed E Douglas Ave., head back West briefly and turn left to head South on S Pattie Ave.
  • Continue South on S Pattie Ave & White Crow Cider Company will be to your right.
